Moorfield Vacuum Components was established as a complementary division to the Moorfield nanotechnology product line. We aim to provide high quality vacuum equipment and service to vacuum system users. The support team has over 100 years of hands on technical vacuum experience and aims to provide fast effective solutions to its customers.

Andy Taylor

Andy has been a Vacuum professional for 30 years selling and servicing BOC Edwards high vacuum pumps and plant.
He was initially an apprentice with BOC Edwards high vacuum and then progressed to be a site service engineer with BOC edwards vacuum. After 7 years with Edwards Service I was involved with a BOC Edwards vacuum Distributor, i then decided to start Absolute vacuum services UK.
The company had evolved from myself to now 8 employees and a turnover in excess of 1.4 million Uk pounds.
We aim to give good service and professional advice.

Specialties: Sales and service of BOC Edwards vacuum pumps and systems. Leybold Varian Alcatel Busch Stokes vacuum all catered for.

In 2011 Absolute vacuum was taken over in a company purchase then progressed to be the north Uk sales manager for the Kurt J lesker Company. 

Andy now heads up the complimentary Moorfield vacuum components division

Jon installed two "nanoETCH"​ systems in the National Graphene Institute, Manchester. Also we installed a hybrid nanoETCH / anneal system in a Braun glovebox line for Dr Roman Gorbachev. The nanoETCH was developed with the Manchester University Graphene Group. Designed to enhance 2D material transfer, soft etch for 2D device fabrication - it works in a totally different mode to standard etch systems.

We launched our new bench top NanoPVD sputter system for metal and oxide deposition late 2014. We are now geared up for production in our new factory unit in Knutsford, Cheshire. We moved in early May. The facility boasts first floor offices with conference facilities, ground floor production and demonstration laboratory (with a multi-camera Skype set up for web demo's), clean assembly facilities and enough test bays for sales expansion over the next 5 years.

Moorfield launched a CVD graphene growth system in 2013. Called the nanoCVD-8G it is designed for research groups looking to grow high quality graphene for electronics applications. It allows the researcher to experiment with different receipes and tweek parameters to increase / decrease domaine size, uniformity etc. Its a cold wall system with three gas inlets, low themal mass heater ( very quick response), high stability pressure control and fast cycle time ( 25 minutes - sample in to sample out). The touch screen control, ease of use and low foot print have been very well received in the market place. Systems have been shipped, installed and when optimised are producing material equivalent to high end exfoliated graphene. Papers are now out.

Clean Environments Divsion have developed a range of rapid-assembly, HEPA filtered clean environments at a low cost and on-demand.

The current range includes;

Clean Shower. A two classification environment upgrade from ambient.
Clean Tent. A portable, ISO 5 cleanroom.

Clean environments has grown from its birth within Moorfield Associates, a progressive vacuum deposition systems company founded to provide services in vacuum technology; primarily to the academic research market.

Whilst the initial service and retrofit side of the business is still important to our customers, the company has now grown to supply products manufactured in-house.

Moorfield’s vacuum deposition range is aimed at pilot-scale industrial production and high-end educational institutions. System designs involve extensive modularity, leading to flexible solutions ideal for R&D environments where changing technical requirements are common. The range consists of starter platforms that can then each be populated with numerous component sets for deposition of metals, inorganics and organics. Systems can be built as standalone units, or can be combined with gloveboxes when air sensitivity is an issue.

Recently, Moorfield have directed R&D toward chemical vapour deposition (CVD) systems that allow for easy production of the ‘wonder materials’ graphene and carbon nano tubes (CNTs). These developments have attracted government funding and have been aided by consultation with expert academic researchers. The systems are capable of scalable, cost-efficient synthesis of high-quality material through the implementation of growth schemes deemed critical for future commercialism of carbon nano materials.

A large proportion of Moorfield’s products are used within a clean environment and our engineers are therefore both users and manufactures of cleanrooms, giving our designs a practical edge over the competition.

Clean environments have a diverse client base from blue chip corporations to start ups in industries as varied as aerospace to medical. We have had the honor of working along side some of the worlds most pioneering teams, developing our environments to suit their bespoke applications. This knowledge is then filtered down to our standard product range.
